If you take the train from Bradford Interchange to Huddersfield or Halifax you will pass through Low Moor Station. You can also catch Grand Central trains there direct to Kings Cross. The replacement Low Moor Station has been in existence since April 2017, since the original station of this name was a victim of the Dr Richard Beeching axe in the 1960s.

As the map shows the original Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway station was at the junction of a track from Halifax and another from Cleckheaton and Mirfield. I believe it may have briefly been the terminus for these lines until the section of track from Low Moor to Bradford, Drake Street was completed in 1850. The purpose of the map is to show land acquired for a railway crossing. When I original showed this LSL reserve collection map to Mary Twentyman of the Low Moor History Group she found it very much of interest. It is undated but clearly originates between the 1854 and 1893 OS maps. It shows the bridge which was built to replace the crossing. She was intrigued by the school building as she had seen no other reference on a map to one being at that site. Any more information would be welcome.

If you are unaware of the extent of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway network you may welcome this network plan, immortalised in ceramic tiles at Manchester Victoria Station. You can see Low Moor but you will need a magnifying glass!
